MERIT BEGETS QUALITY

AND SERVICE EXCELLENCE

People inhabiting countries worldwide must choose those who are destined to govern them, with care, because they will have to live with the consequences for a few years or longer if the governing party misuses it's power to become a DICTATORSHIP. This unfortunate scenario is prevalent in many countries worldwide. The governed become submissive because of government driven measures to ensure compliance. In some of these countries physical force is used by the dictator and his cronies to maintain order and ensure compliance. There are many reported instances worldwide where people were deprived of their rights and even murdered because of racial, religious and ethnic issues or non compliance with orders from government. These issues are real, there are ongoing reports in the various media throughout history of this flagrant disregard for HUMAN RIGHTS.

HISTORY BOOKS AND CURRENT MEDIA ARE FULL OF ACCOUNTS OF RACE, RELIGIOUS AND ETHNIC CONFLICTS INVOLVING MASSIVE LOSS OF HUMAN LIVES, DISFIGUREMENT AND DISPLACEMENT OF PEOPLE.

Some nations profess to support human rights in their constitutions but when their economies are prone to negative actions by countries which supply significant quantities of a necessity such as oil, then they turn a blind eye professing not to know about alleged human rights abuses by the governors of the suppliers of their necessary fuel. Again there are many examples of this lack of action against abusers of human rights because of the fear of losing their source of supply of scarce resources.

Many inhumane goverments continue to exist because some governments of some countries through some obligation fail to criticise the offending government regardless of human rights abuses. Some of these non critical governments and their peoples are negatively affected because some of the offending government's inhabitants illegally migrate to a state where human rights are practised. The end result is that many of these illegal immigrants cannot get jobs or residence permits and resort to criminal activity in order to survive.

The United Nations appear unable to solve these issues. The United Nations should be given real power to solve human rights issues by convening meetings to ascertain the nature and scope of the problem and then act decisively to solve it. They should have a military force made up of soldiers from various countries to speedily and decisively take the necessary action to normalise the situation. Mass murders on the grounds of race, ethnicity, religion, the acquirement of resources et cetera will be contained and hopefully eliminated.

Another potential problem worldwide appears to be the election of a given group to govern a country. In many countries presidents and govenors are elected on the grounds of popularity and support for the governing party. In some instances the electorate bases their choice on what a campaigner says and how he or she conducts himself or herself only to find that the elected person (s) do not measure up to their expectations. The ideal situation would be where the campaigner or incumbant has suitable and appropriate qualifications to govern whether at cabinet level or at provincial and municipal levels. The unsuitability of elected officials only surfaces once they are in power.

Some of the incumbents commit criminal offences such as theft, fraud, corruption et cetera but still retain their official positions. There should be ZERO TOLERANCE for government officails in all tiers of government that are convicted of these crimes. Apart from conviction and punishment they should be removed from office. ZERO TOLERANCE EXISTS FOR US ORDINARY PEOPLE. Why do some governments treat the criminals amongst them differently?

TO PROMOTE QUALITY GOVERENCE AND SERVICE EXCELLENCE

whether in governmental structures or in the private sector all appointments must be made on the basis of MERIT.

The appointees must have the requisite education and skills for a particular position not to mention honesty.

Too many appointments are made on the basis of race, ethnicity, friendship or some other non work related basis.

MERIT APPOINTMENTS ARE NOT MADE ON THE COLOUR OF ONE'S SKIN, OR ANY OTHER NON WORK RELATED CONSIDERATION. They are made on the ability of the person to do the work required.

TO ME THERE IS ONLY ONE RACE AND THAT IS THE HUMAN RACE.

OTHER CONSIDERATIONS APART FROM WORK RELATED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS ARE HONESTY, CIVILITY, SERVICE EXCELLENCE AND THE REQUISITE LEVEL OF COMPETENCE.

ON THE QUESTION OF RACE, I REPEAT THERE IS ONLY THE HUMAN RACE. CONSIDER THE FOLLOWING:

If you are a believer in religion then you probably believe in creation,it thus follows that you believe everyone on earth evolved from a single couple created by a superior being. IF this is your belief then obviously everyone on earth are related albeit remotely.

If you believe in evolution, you will also believe that we evolved from a primary group thus we are all related again albeit remotely.

To me it is thus clear that if you accept either of these two alternatives we are all relatives and thus BROTHERS AND SISTERS WITH COMMON ANCESTORS.

COME ON MY BROTHERS AND SISTERS WORLDWIDE LET US ACCENTUATE OUR LOVE AND ELIMINATE THE HATRED THAT EXISTS IN OUR WORLD.

LET US WORK TOGETHER TO ELIMINATE POVERTY THAT IS EXACERBATED BY FACTORS SUCH AS THE OVERPOPULATION OF OUR EARTH. LET US SHARE OUR RESOURCES AMICABLY THROUGH TRADE. LET US MOBILISE OUR RESOURCES AND FIND ALTERNATIVE ENERGY INITIATIVES TO COAL AND OIL AND THUS ELIMINATE THE THREAT OF GLOBAL WARMING THAT CAN DESTROY ALL LIFE ON EARTH UNLESS WE TAKE DRASTIC MEASURES NOW TO PROVIDE A LIVABLE HABITAT FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS.
